The wood cabin which is religiously conventional to the
iconography of horror films has been made unconventional by being displayed
through a clever use of graphics as a Rubik cube type shape. The small text
below this graphic anchors the meaning behind such an illustration and denotes
to the viewer that the Rubik cube puzzle wood cabin is a representation of how
complex the narrative Is which creates intrigue for the viewer making them want
to see it. The cabin is also shot from a low angle which makes it appear to
have dominance over everything else in the frame. This connotes importance.
Toward the bottom of the frame we can see scratching which looks as though it
has been done with something sharp, this connotes fear and danger to the
audience. Because of the shot angle of the poster, the scratches look like they
have been done by something that’s lurking in the fog beneath the Cabin.
Overall the poster is unsettling and puzzling to the viewer connoting isolation
and represents the way the film will make the viewer feel throughout.
